A lot like Buenos Aires, Santiago is a thriving city with lots to do and great places to eat and drink. It reminds me a lot of Melbourne in terms of the really cool graffiti and variety of amazing restaurants.
Accommodation: H Rado Hostel
A really nice hostel with a rooftop, that you can see some of the city, surrounding green mountains and the distant snow mountains. The dorms were very clean and beds were super comfortable. There is a nice kitchen area and communal area that backs on to the rooftop. It is also in a great location with the university across the street so heaps of great places to eat, drink, and go out.
Things to do:
Eat and Drink: Chile is known for its amazing wine and I can see why, I drank some really nice red at dinner. The food in Santiago was the best of the trip as it was all easy to find and just of a really high quality. We splurged a bit because it was our last stop so we wanted to wine and dine in style.
Explore street art: Santiago is full of stunning street art and it makes for a really nice walk around.
Zoo: we stumbled upon a zoo near our hostel area. The zoo was pretty awful and I felt horrible for the animals. There was however a nice view from the walk up as the zoo is on top of a hill.
