Byron Bay

Byron is a truly beautiful part of Australia… if you can afford to go there. While it is expensive, it really is worth it. There are so many great places to eat and if you are able to hire a car, there are some great things to see. I love the laid back vibe of Byron and had something to do everyday.

Where to stay: Suffolk Park – Airbnb https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/4874403

We enjoyed this little place, especially as it was surrounded by nature. If you stay here though it would be useful to hire a car so you can drive into town.

Things to Do:

  • Wategos Bay: A really beautiful beach that is a little less crowded than the main Byron beach. The water is really clear and the surroundings are stunning.
  • Suffolk Park Beach: Very secluded and great for a long walk along the beach. I recommend going here if you want less people around and to enjoy the beach in peace and quiet.
  • The Farm: I loved The Farm, it was so fun and I got to see the cows up close! It is nice to see the animals all being looked after and to explore the area. Three Blue Ducks is the restaurant at the farm and it is incredible! Don’t buy the local produce when you are there though as you can get the same stuff at the market for less $$.
  • The Lighthouse Walk: A great view of all of Byron and also a good walk. I really enjoyed doing this.
  • Killen Falls: Awesome natural falls that you can explore – you should have a hire car to see this though as it is a little further out.
  • Eat Out: There are so many great restaurants in Byron. My favourites are:
    • St Elmo – Spanish taps, just incredible food.
    • Miss Margaritas – Mexican and cheap drinks during happy hour
    • The Mez Club – the interior is awesome I felt like I was back in Greece.
    • Bay Leaf – breakfast which is healthy and local
    • Rae’s – arguably the best restaurant in Byron. It is pricey though so be ready to fork out. Totally worth it.
    • The general store – great local food
  • Farmers Market: Thursday mornings, great local food.
