Uyuni

Uyuni is a tiny town in southern Bolivia whose main purpose is to host people before they head of to the salt flats. The town is much warmer than La Paz as its not as high off the ground however its basically a desert so you feel the cold when the sun goes down.

We didn’t stay in Uyuni but there are plenty of places to stay before you start your salt flat tour. There is a cute little square with some colonial style buildings, food and mini sort of markets where you can buy snacks, essentials and souvenirs. There are also plenty of companies that organise Salt Flat tours and you can either do it here or organise it at your hostel (if in Bolivia) from the location before.

Things to do:

Abandoned train: you get to see and climb all over this abandoned train in the middle of the desert just outside of Uyuni. It is really cool to be able to stand on top of it and take in the amazing scenery and of course take awesome photos.
