Barcelona

Barca was great. I loved being able to get back out in the sun again…Netherlands weather was actually perfect when I was there so I was one happy camper to be able to get my tan back 😉 I really enjoyed Barcelona and it has made me want to explore the rest of Spain in the future.

Accommodation: Urbany Hostel BCN GO
Great facilities, comfy beds with private curtains and a rooftop spa! The hostel are a bit stingy though… €5 extra if you lose your card but also you pay a €10 euro deposit when you arrive which can be withheld if you check out after 10:30. They were happy to charge everyone extra for everything however when their wifi barely worked for a whole day… They blamed it on Barcelona LMAO. I would defs stay back here though as it’s quite central to everything and given public transport is so clear and easy in Barca, getting everywhere was a breeeeeeze. The rooftop spa is advertised as a pool…it is not a pool but it’s actually really nice and the view is good.

Things to do:
I didn’t really do too much of the tourist stuff in Barca because I just wanted to lay in the sun but all of the main things that you hear about are apparently really good.
Sagrada Familia: I was like ehhh another church do I really need to go. YES YOU NEED TO! It is spectacular. You look at it and think how the fuck did they do this haha. The good thing is you go in you look around and you leave.
Tapas Tour: not sure who we did ours with but it was a cool experience to drink wine and eat authentic spanish tapas. It was lots of fun.
Beach: the beach is really nice… It’s got nothing on Aussie beaches obviously but defs the nicest beach in Europe so far.
Clubs: clubbing is huge in Barca and there is a beach area dedicated to all of the touristy clubs… Beware though, drinks will cost you an arm and a leg so pre-game better be STRONG.
Carpe Diem played hip hop/r&b/pop and was a good time and really cool inside but yeah so expensive.
Opium: so I actually snuck in to opium because I was not paying £20 to get in. I jumped the fence and fucking nailed it. Stayed there for about 3 hours and had such a time. They play mainstream house I guess you’d call it.
Shoko: we went here on s Tuesday and it was so hot inside, you couldn’t move and the guys were PIGS. Grabbing us girls whenever they could yuck! We left pretty early because it was just awful.
Apollo: I didn’t get to go but this is apparently good on Tuesday’s and more where the locals go so you won’t be ripped off.

Restaurants: Barca can be really hit or miss so make sure you go to Chill Bar near Sagrada familia and eat the Mexican/Asian inspired food… To fucking die for. Makamaka Beach Burger Cafe is also a must go. Best and most fresh burger I think I’ve ever eaten. It’s right near the beach so great for a post swim feast.
Brunch & Cake: they also have a beach location but we went to the one in the city and it was delish. It reminded me so much of top paddock in melbourne. Great quality food and not too expensive considering what you are getting.
