Amsterdam

I really liked Amsterdam. A lot of people I know say it’s overrated but coming from Go go go Berlin, it was nice to be in a place where everyone is so chilled. The buildings are also so different from Australia and really beautiful

Accommodation: St Christopher’s at the Winston
I stayed in an all girl dorm and I’m so glad I did. It’s away from the main section of the hostel so when you are in desperate need of bed… You can just walk through a door instead of through the bar at the hostel. The beds were super comfy and it had great facilities. The only let down was that my bed was near the window on the side near the Main Street, it’s really noisy and if you aren’t a good sleeper I would ask staff if you. An stay on the other side. The hostel is right amongst it all and in a great location.

Things to do:
Coffeeshops: Amsterdam is known for legal weed and that’s what the coffee shops provide. Whether that is your thing or not, it’s cool to check them out.
Hire bikes: even though I nearly died so many times trying to cross the road, Amsterdam is so bike friendly and a beautiful place to ride around. Make sure you check out the different parks around the city.
Iamsterdam sign: you see it in all of the pictures and you have to go obviously. It’s more exciting when your name letter is there but cool to see anyway (I was lucky I had a red and white letter M haha).
Heineken experience: you get a history of the beer, drink free beer, and walk around. It’s nothing too special but we had a good time here.
Shopping: I really liked the shopping in Amsterdam. I spent a small fortune at the main shopping street in the city centre
